Craftivism: Stitch for Syria

stitchforsyrialanding

I just pledged to join the Stitch for Syria campaign, a collaboration between Concern Worldwide and mr x stitch that benefits Syrian refugees and poor Lebanese women by providing training and community.  The campaign runs through the end of March so I need to get stitching!

We’ve now received more than 100 #StitchforSyria patterns from supporters – and would like to say a big thank you! You can download the free pattern (which was put together by the wonderful @mrxstitch based on a design used in Lebanon) using the link on our profile– all the squares will be made into a banner to send a message of hope to refugees from Syria and poor Lebanese women who are taking part in a Concern supported project in Lebanon. The craft project is helping Syrian and Lebanese women learn skills such as embroidery. The sessions give women a chance to earn a living – and escape their worries for a little while. We’ve had lots of wonderful messages of solidarity and support from stitchers all over the world. The closing date is soon – but there’s still time – please send your stitches to us before the end of March. Thank you! #crossstitch #xstitch #craftivism #syria #withsyria #supportingsyrians
